Session 4: Understanding News Media Bias | Senior Planet from AARP is excited to continue working with News Literacy Project, a nonpartisan national education nonprofit. The first three sessions in this series were focused on misinformation: What it is, how to think about it in productive ways and how to debunk it when you see it online. This last session in the series tackles the adjacent subject of bias in news coverage which also has the potential to mislead and misinform the public. At the same time, vague or unfounded perceptions of bias can cause people to dismiss credible reporting or, worse, institutional news media altogether. Our final session is titled Understanding News Media Bias and will be offered on Wednesday, January 19 from 12:00pm – 1:00pm MST. This session will help you think more clearly about what causes bias in reporting, what it looks like in coverage and what you can do when you encounter it in your news diet. | | | Upcoming Events | Be sure to view the events below.
