#OpenLearning2019…once more unto the breach

…of yet another connectivist #MOOC that is

… and my first post for  Open Learning 2019 because I have to post to have a feed to complete sign-up. This procedure guarantees that I will have written at least one blog post for Open Learning 2019, which puts me ahead of Open Learning 2017, although at least I came away from it with a Hypothesis account and another MOOC feed in my reader.

I've participated in MOOCs since 2010, including the occasional x-version.  The past few years, participation has not matched intentions, and I've been on an extended blogging hiatus as well. When I missed most of Open Learning 2017, I told myself next year but missed that too.

So here I am following #openlearning19 tweets, reading blog posts and collecting links. And if it helps kick starts a return to blogging? Lagniappe.

…Jan26 weekly post, courtesy of Diigo's ever so useful auto-blogging feature. Otherwise, weekly course blogging would suffer mightily. I almost managed one yesterday. When flash crashed the browser mid-post, I took it as an omen and desisted. Today, I was going to embed and introduce the Week 2 Enforcing Independence YouTube clip with the comment about this being oxymoron week but realized that has been every week so far...both of them.

As I mentioned last week, I've been thinking of other ways and places to use the feature. Although the intro/commentary + something visual is a good basic model, I'm still experimenting before taking it on the road with another blog. What then, I wonder, would be the odds of getting Joe Berry to use it for COCAL Updates...slim to none I suspect. That's being too optimistic. Is this a digression from the rhizomatic path? Indeed, but what could be more rhizomatic than that? The path is never straight or narrow.

Another large online course to get lost in and never quite up to speed, literally or figuratively.

Finally found my password, logged in and updated my profile ~ now catching my breath  for reflections and first impressions and exploring the forum. Considering mailbox confusion of the past few days, made worse by a sluggish (uncooperative) computer, multitasking may not be my best strategy.

Mail chaos not withstanding (or forums), I like the atmosphere. The organizer has a good (and realistic) handle on structure/ design, is laid back and neither prescriptive nor worried overmuch about disorder ~ "messy is part of the process." Scott is here. Otherwise, I haven't noticed anyone else I know but may turn out to be wrong. Helen might be too.

I'm trying to read through as many introductions as possible to get a feel for the group, which may be less than realistic. So far there seem's to be a preponderance of IT managers. I'm watching for participants with similar interests. I thought my own were getting clearer and more solid but, yet again, the closer I get or think I am getting, they loose both clarity and substance... as though solidity "melting into air." By the time I get to keyboard or notepad... it's gone, vanished into the mist.
