goodbye work hello life

This blog has been a catch-all for online course posts, blogging challenges and other online writing projects. Figuratively speaking, Work and Life, its name reflecting its origin as back-up for a job I never got paid for doing, is an adjunct among blogs, a red-headed stepchild.

Then there are all the other social media. What a mess. First things first = start with blogging. This particular blog should be a personal blog and renamed to make it personal. I will do that. Maybe I even had that in mind when I created the blog. #DigiWriMo seems a good time to address all this, not that this post is an #altCV. Mine would be far weirder. Could this be preliminary notes toward one?

another down to the #TWTblog—been doing #CEW2015

…digitally, from a distance, so this will be short. Writing something is better than nothing. Somebody else already blogged that today. Maybe I can just show a film, like those teaching days you are at a loss for something to do in a class. But at least this video by my friend Bradley Rettele (who started it before National Adjunct Walkout Day) related to what I've been doing.

And I still need to comment on two more posts and answer replies to my last post. Better get flying on the Infobahn...won't be before midnight EDT though. On the other hand, I got 1200+ on 750 Words

filling the book cases = really moving in

short version catch up, emphasis on the final stage. I moved into my apartment at High Plains Manor, Yuma CO, mid-July. I've been acclimating, orienting, exploring and such. The apartment furnishing was spare and basic -- minimalist. Bookcases and boxes books finally made it out of my daughter's garage and over here.

#SoL15 musings on moving, #clmooc, #adjunct blogging

…#RWTblog, #EdBlogNet…but still ignoring the other. Tumbling and social media writing don't count here.

Add procrastination. Tagged for both #sol15 and #adjunct. Check. Evasive multitasking by hashtag. Tagged for #clmooc, hold the apps. Check. There is a limit to how many/much I can wrap my mind around or juggle at one time -- and am already dropping too many as it is.
Beautiful Sliced Fruit-Shaped Adhesive Notes
Sliced fruit sticky notes: a Japanese office supplies novelty by d-bros
As usual, I have no idea where this will take me but now have a habit of starting with an image. Serendipity rules more often than not: what catches -- and pleases my eye. I saved slice images on the last hard drive: TWT logos, fruit, pizza, bread, etc. Dexter is the most popular result googling Slice of Life images. I haven't been in that kind of mood. Not yet.

This morning I had a topic in mind, no doubt about moving, book and other triage, but forgot.

#SOLSC: life slicing and sorting puzzle pieces

…This Tuesday's SoL image,"Slice of Life," is a 500 piece puzzle. Life is a puzzle.

I don't know how many pieces mine has. By now I've lost more than a few, possibly too many to reassemble a complete picture. They've spilled out of the box, rolled under furniture, been played with, carried away and hidden by the cats.

Now with a move coming on, I have to pack up some, but not all. Which ones do I take, re-home, throw or just leave behind? That's a daunting amount of pieces to sort, real or psychic -- sometimes both.

another Tuesday another #SoLSC

and yet another late start, less than an hour to the East coast witching hour when it's after 9 pm here. It's always Mountain time where my own off-line life slices these days. Online is another matter. Time operates differently there -- zones irrelevant. I may start out the morning coffee in hand, making a list and promising myself I will get an earlier start slicing. Then I hit my virtual rounds.

Email comes first so it doesn't take over like kudzu -- both main accounts more or less at he same time and checking incoming links to post, bookmark or bundle on OneTab. Even with the multitasking, it does not seem like so much for someone who does not have a "day job."

#SoLSC: reading fab book via #EdBlogNet

…why I'm starting late and finishing short ~ so I can get back to Elizabeth Rose's YO MIZ! (1 teacher + 25 schools = 1 wacky year). I plan to review it in more detail. For now, read the overview on Smashwords and then read the book. Short take: think sub's version of Up the Down Staircase.
Yo Miz! is the seriously funny memoir of an unconventional “edu-tainer,” ejected from her home school and assigned to teach at 25 Manhattan public high schools in one wacky year.
Yo Miz! is about the kids. From el barrio to Wall Street, they’re all present…speaking in their own voices.
Yo Miz! is a remarkable odyssey through the largest public school system in the US.Want a front row seat in class? Then Yo Miz! = required reading. Fa real!
Another high point today is Google's Nellie Bly Doodle that is also a short music video. Rose and Nellie make a pair. There's more to the day -- a long and tiring one. If I'd started this sooner, I would have written more about it. That would have cut into my reading though
